Abstract

Swirler, besides stabilizing the flame is a passive control device to reduce exhaust gas emissions. Contaminants discharged along with the exhaust gas consist of nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and carbon monoxide (CO). Various methods can be adapted to reduce the production of gaseous emissions from combustion processes, among others is the improvement of combustion techniques in order to reduce the production of emissions from combustion. This study focuses on the use of swirling flow. By using axial flow swirler, NOx emissions are reduced due to more complete combustion and higher combustion efficiency produced. Emission rates depend on the swirler blade deflection angle used and the effectiveness has been proven through the use of an axial flow swirler in combustion tests that were carried out.
